Groningen Airport Eelde will become Electron Aviation’s first operational airport for electric aviation taxis. The company has indicated to start operating the air taxi service from Groningen Airport Eelde from 2026.
The flights of the air taxi service will be operated with the all-electric Electron 5 aircraft, which can accommodate up to four passengers. The air taxis give an opportunity to be transported within a radius of 750 km around Groningen Airport Eelde. These include destinations such as Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Hanover, London and Paris.
The declaration of intent to use Groningen Airport Eelde as a hub for the air taxis was signed by both parties during the Hydrogen Valley Aviation event, part of the Wind meets Gas symposium. Meiltje de Groot, director Groningen Airport Eelde: ”We are excited about the cooperation. It brings us one step closer to realising emission-free flying for the general public”. Josef Mouris, CEO of Electron Aviation added: ”our air taxi offer provides easier travel options to and from Groningen Airport Eelde, at a competitive price and without emissions”.
